With Gourds by the Box, the cost is greatly reduced because the quantity and sizes are consistent in each box and many identical boxes can be made at the same time, saving you money!

Standard gourds are still great gourds, they just arrive unwashed and are not inspected for things like small cracks or minor shell damage. But with a little GourdMaster™ Woodfiller, no one will ever know!

Welburn gourds are easier to clean than other gourds! When gourds are growing they have a waxy coating that will often harden and almost 'fuse' to the shell of the gourd as the gourd dries, making them very difficult to clean.

Because of the thick, quality shells of our gourds, and also due to the great growing conditions here in Southern California, Welburn gourds are often much easier to clean than gourds bought at other farms!

To clean our gourds, simply soak them in water for 10-15 minutes, then scrub them with a wire mesh pot scrubber. (Plastic scrubbers and steel wool do not work well and are not recommended). Note: If you are sensitive to dirt and mold, be sure to wear a dust mask or respirator when cleaning gourds.
