GourdMaster™ Pigment Powders
GourdMaster™ Pigment Powders are unlike any pigment powders you've ever worked with! Unlike other pigment powders, these high-quality powders have no added fillers or dyes.
Not only do lower quality powders perform more poorly (flaking or scratching off, colors changing, etc.) clean-up with them can be a nightmare!
Because of the added dyes in these lower quality powders, when you try to wipe up the powder it results in color getting smeared everywhere! It stains countertops, clothing, and can take days to get off of your hands! (see photo, right)
GourdMaster™ Pigment Powders are made with only the finest ingredients and have no added fillers or dyes so not only are they durable and long-lasting, clean-up is a breeze and hands clean easily with soap and water. Plus, they are designed to work with the entire line of GourdMaster™ products, including Ink Dyes, Gourd Varnish, Protecting Wax, and more!
GourdMaster™ Pigment Powders are extremely versatile and designed to be worked with wet or dry!
To make the dry powder adhere to your gourd, simply apply Liquid Glue with a paint brush to the desired area of your gourd surface, heat the area with a heat tool until glue loses its shine and becomes tacky (45 seconds to several minutes, depending on humidity);
The glue only activates when heated so your stamps clean off easily using a damp cloth! ;
Then with a dry, fluffy paint brush apply your dry powder to the glue area. You only need a very small amount of dry powder because a little goes a long way! Wipe off excess with a dry tissue.
Pictured left, Spring Green, Aztec Gold, and Red Russet Pigment Powders applied to a gourd bowl using the method described above.
A fun trick is to use the Glue Pad in conjunction with your favorite rubber stamps! Just stamp onto the Glue Pad, then directly onto the gourd surface, heat activate your glue with your heat tool as described above, and brush on your Pigment Powder. (Wipe off any excess with a dry tissue). Presto! Your beautiful stamp design is now on your gourd in brilliant color!
See step-by-step instructions below.
| Step 1: Press your rubber stamp into the GLUEPAD (or rub the pad over the stamp if it is a large stamp), and stamp onto gourd surface (you may need a bit of practice to rock your stamp around the curve of the gourd - be sure to order some Gourd Practice Pieces!) |
 |
| Step 2: Heat activate the glue using a Heat Tool for approx. 30 seconds or until glue has
lost its shine and turned matte. (You cannot over heat the glue, so more time is better than less) |
 |
| Step 3: Once the glue is tacky, apply a small amount of Pigment Powders using a fluffy brush. Wipe off excess with a dry tissue and reheat to set. |
 |
| Step 4: Seal and protect with Gourd Varnish. |

incredible
looks, or add Metal Leafing for a touch of class!
To use Pigment Powders wet, mix with GourdMaster Gourd Varnish to create a beautiful finish that can be brushed on with a paintbrush or even sponged on for a more textured effect. (Pictured right, Turquoise Pigment Powder mixed with Gourd Varnish and painted on wet.)
Pigment Powders are extremely popular because they can be mixed and matched with so many other GourdMaster Products!
Sprinkle Powders into the GourdMaster Protecting Wax for an accent finish with a hint of sparkle and color (or a lot of sparkle and color -- depending on how much Powder you add!). About 1/8 tsp. of Wax to a few sprinkles of powder.
Use in conjunction with Gourd Master Dye Ink to intensify and add sparkle to your color! About 1/8 tsp Powder to 6 drops Ink Dye.
